Dhaka to Khulna now less than 4hr train ride via Padma Bridge

Train service on the Dhaka-Khulna route through the Padma Bridge launched today (24 December), offering a travel time of just 3 hours and 45 minutes.
The inaugural journey of the Dhaka-Benapole train also began today, using the same locomotive, marking a significant reduction in travel duration compared to existing routes.
The first train, Jahanabad Express, departed Khulna Railway Station at 6am and arrived at Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station at 10:30am, carrying 553 passengers.

Under the regular schedule, Jahanabad Express will leave Khulna at 6am and arrive in Dhaka by 9:45am. The train operates with 768 seats across 12 coaches and offers lower fares compared to other services.
Passengers travelling from Khulna to Dhaka pay Tk445 for Shovon Chair, Tk180 less than the fares for the Sundarban Express on the same route.
Using the same rake, the train, renamed Ruposhi Bangla, departed Dhaka at 10:45am for Benapole and reached its destination at 2:30pm. On its return journey, Ruposhi Bangla left Jashore at 3:30pm and was scheduled to reach Dhaka by 7:10pm.
Finally, operating again as Jahanabad Express, the train was set to depart Dhaka at 8pm and returned to Khulna by 11:40pm. The service will operate six days a week, with Mondays reserved for maintenance.
Tickets for the Dhaka-Khulna route are priced at Tk445 for Shovon Chair, Tk740 for Snigdha class, Tk885 for AC seats, and Tk1,330 for AC berths. At the same time, fares for Dhaka-Benapole on Ruposhi Bangla are set at Tk455 for Shovon Chair and Tk755 for Snigdha.
