DMP organises hostage crisis workshop
15 members of the DMP attended the training session
The UK's counter-terrorism negotiation team helped in holding a 12-day workshop, starting from November 24 till December 5, to train the police to better deal with crisis situations.
The workshop, titled "Hostage Crisis Negotiation" was organised by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), and was attended by 15 members of the DMP.
The DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam presented certificates to the participants on December 5 (Thursday) at its Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit's conference room.

He thanked the UK team for conducting the session and added that hostage negotiations are one of a toughest parts of the job for the police.
"Law enforcement agencies of the USA and the UK are helping Bangladesh increase their skill levels. It helps us become more efficient," he said.
The DMP commissioner also urged the trainees to improve their training through continuous practice.
DMP's counter terrorism and transnational crime unit's chief Monirul Islam, along with members of the London Police, Kety Martin, Mark Brux and Drick Kayrro were present at the programme.
