DSCC mayor presents optional fund management policy
A draft copy of the policy was presented at the fourth board meeting of second council of DSCC at Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) board has taken an initiative to formulate a management policy for mayor's optional fund, says a press release.
A draft copy of the policy was presented at the fourth board meeting of second council of DSCC at Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday.
At the meeting, DSCC councillors expressed their opinions on the draft policy.
Commenting on the necessity of preparing the policy, DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said, "The mayoral post gives a right to use the optional fund, but there is no specific policy regarding how he would spend it."
He further said, "Although managing the optional fund depends on mayor's decision only; however, I want to manage it through a proper policy. That is why we are going to formulate Optional Fund Management Policy-2020." He also called for the councillors' opinion on the draft policy.
Later the meeting formed a standing committee on social welfare and community centres comprising of nine members.
About the committee, the DSCC mayor said, "A number of our community centres had been rented to different organisations. The tenure of agreements has ended, and we are not going to renew the agreements, because we want these community centres to be used for the welfare of Dhaka dwellers."
"We have already sent formal letters to the related authorities to free up the premises," he added.
