6 govt medical colleges renamed by removing names of Hasina, Mujib
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has renamed six government medical colleges across the country, including Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur, aligning each with its district name.
The Medical Education and Family Welfare Division issued a circular on 30 October, signed by the Family Welfare Secretary Md Sarwar Bari, confirming the changes.
According to the circular, Colonel Maleque Medical College in Manikganj will now be known as Manikganj Medical College, Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in Noakhali as Noakhali Medical College, and Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur as Jamalpur Medical College.
Furthermore, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail has been renamed Tangail Medical College, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur is now Faridpur Medical College, and M Abdur Rahim Medical College in Dinajpur will be called Dinajpur Medical College.
