Four engineering universities yet to decide on uniform admission test mechanism
‘We discussed many aspects but yet to come up to any decision. We need another meeting to hold very soon’
The four engineering universities have agreed to hold a uniform admission test from the 2020-21 academic session, but are yet to decide on forming admission test committees and fixing up test centres.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) held a virtual meeting with the vice-chancellors of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet), Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet), but the meeting ended without making any decision in this regard.
UGC Chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah presided over the meeting while Professor Md Alamgir, UGC member, Professor Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, vice-chancellor of Cuet, Professor Rafikul Islam Sheikh, vice-chancellor of Ruet, Professor Kazi Sazzad Hossain, vice-chancellor of Kuet and Professor Abdul Jabbar Khan, pro-VC of Buet attended it.

Professor Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam told The Business Standard that they would hold another meeting soon to take the final decision about the uniform admission test and other issues related to it.
"We have discussed many aspects but yet to come up to any decision. We need another meeting for this which will be held very soon," he said.
UGC member Professor Md Alamgir said the universities will submit a proposal to the UGC for getting the approval to hold the uniform admission test.
The 19 public universities also agreed to arrange the uniform admission test from the 2020-21 academic session and seven agricultural universities went for it from 2019-20 session.
