International conference on ETCCE starts
The conference received 285 papers from more than 21 countries
The inauguration of a two-day international conference on Emerging Technology in Computing, Communication and Electronics (ETCCE) 2020 took place virtually on Tuesday morning.
This year's conference features five keynote speeches, three invited talks and 11 technical sessions on scientific research of various topics.
ETCCE 2020, received 285 papers from more than 21 countries including: the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and Malaysia. Each paper was reviewed by expert reviewers to ensure the quality of the papers. All submissions went through a careful anonymous review process with three or more reviews per submission.
Just 60 papers were selected for oral presentation at the conference – a 21% acceptance rate.
The conference is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Bangladesh Section, and is jointly organised by the Department of CSE of United International University (UIU), Bangladesh and Faculty of Computing, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Malaysia on Monday and Tuesday.
Minister of Education Dr Dipu Moni attended as the chief guest while special guests included: Professor Dr Md Sazzad Hossain, member of University Grants Commission (UGC); Mr Hasan Mahmood Raja, chairman of the UIU Board of Trustees; Professor Dr HM Jahirul Haque, vice chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh; Professor Dr Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, deputy vice chancellor of UMP; and Professor Dr Celia Shahnaz, chair IEEE Bangladesh Section.
In her speech, Dr Dipu Moni said, "All this research and technology should be used by the country to build a Digital Bangladesh and will play an important role in technological development and expansion."
In addition she said that, "Universities should also continue working for the development of cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skill) and affective (attitude) attributes in students so that our next generations can lead the country and the globe as well."
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Professor Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, vice-chancellor of UIU. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Md Arafatur Rahman, general chair of ETCCE 2020 and associate professor of UMP, while Professor Dr Salekul Islam, head of the Department of CSE, UIU was another general chair of the conference.
At the end of the ceremony, a vote of thanks was delivered by Professor Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman. The program was anchored by Professor Dr AKM Muzahidul Islam, Department of CSE, UIU.
