Lifelong learning stressed to achieve SDGs

Speakers at a webinar on Sunday underlined the need for lifelong learning to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
They also urged the government to take initiatives to modify the syllabus of public and private universities that will ensure world-class education to help students cope with upcoming challenges.
Professor Dr Md Lutfar Rahman, vice-chancellor of Daffodil International University, told the webinar organised by Campus TV it would be very easy to achieve SDGs within a short time if students engage in lifelong learning.

They will be educated and knowledgeable and at the same time, they must know how to learn and face any kind of challenges in their lives, he said.
"We are trying to impart quality education and build social skills among the graduates. Our students are highly connected with other universities across the globe," he added.
Professor Dr Shamsad Mortuza, pro-vice chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, said the university education curriculum must be rearranged with a focus on SDGs and world-class research should be launched for innovation.
Fakhrul Ahsan, chief technical adviser of Strengthening Institutional Capacity for SDGs Achievement in Bangladesh (United Nations Development Programme) said SDGs are a vital matter.
"Students, especially university pupils, can be part of the initiative to achieve SDGs as the youth's role is a must to reach 17 goals and 169 targets."
He also urged all quarters of the society to work together in this regard.
Apart from the three, Mir Mohammad Jasim, staff correspondent at The Business Standard, was a panelist at the programme moderated by Syed Mizanur Rahman, director (student affairs) at Daffodil International University.
