Students, interns of Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College Hospital annouce shutdown over 7-point demand
The shutdown started on Saturday (14 September), when the students boycotted classes and exams
Students of BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) and BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) programmes at Government Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College and intern doctors at the associated hospital (GUAMCH) have declared a complete shutdown for the realisation of a 7-point demand.
The shutdown has been declared to eradicate discriminations prevailing in the unani and ayurvedic medical sector and bring about needed reforms, said a press release.
The shutdown started on Saturday (14 September), when the students boycotted classes and exams.
The demands raised by the students and intern doctors include improving the quality of unani and ayurvedic education, increasing the monthly allowance of intern doctors and appointing the doctors as government employees through cadre service.
