2nd unit of Payra power plant resumes after 2 months
Production resumed at around 9:30pm yesterday following the completion of repair work
The second unit of Payra 1,320-megawatt (MW) Thermal Power Plant, located at Dhankhali union under Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district, resumed production yesterday night (6 January) after two months.
Production resumed at around 9:30pm yesterday following the completion of repair work, Plant Manager Shah Abdul Mawla said today (7 January).
"The electricity production of the power plant was shut down for maintenance on 9 November last year."
Now the plant will supply 10% of the country's electricity demand, he added.
The plant manager further said currently, the authorities are supplying 1,320 MW of electricity generated from the two units of this power plant to the national grid.
