The Deputy Chief Minister of India's Tripura Jishnu Dev Varma said that Tripura is keen to continue with the supply of 160 megawatts electricity to Bangladesh.
He said that the state government of Tripura has has asked India's central government to settle the formalities for the same, reports The Economic Times.

Verma added that the state has surplus power and wants to continue with the supply to Bangladesh. "The five-year agreement with Bangladesh will expire in March and we have requested the Centre to do the necessary process for renewal of the agreement."
State owned Tripura State Electricity Corporation gets around 45 Crore annually from the power supply.
An official in the Tripura state government, who does not want to be named told ET, "Last year we supplied 40 MW to Nepal however the same was not renewed as the neighbouring country did not show any keenness to renew the same." Power supply to Bangladesh started in 2016 with 100 MW.
