PM to inaugurate 4 power plants tomorrow
The four power plants will have a cumulative capacity to producing 436 megawatts of electricity
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate four power plants in four different districts of the country through video-conference at Ganobhaban at 11am tomorrow.
The four power plants, with a cumulative capacity to producing 436 megawatts (MW) of electricity, set to be inaugurated tomorrow are in Baghabari of Sirajganj (200MW), Shahjahanpur of Bogura (113MW), Jamalpur (115MW) and Kaptai of Rangamati (7.8MW).
The projects under Power Development Board (PDB) will be officially inaugurated from the DC offices of Sirajganj, Jamalpur, Bogura and Rangamati districts.
Among the four power plants, the one in Kaptai will be solar-powered, while the other three will be powered by diesel.
Talking to The Business Standard, Plant Manager of the Bogura power Syed Hassan Chowdhury said, "The power plant involving a cost of Tk700 crore will be able to provide power to the entire Bogura district."
"This power plant will also be able to provide power to the national grid if necessary," he added.
