Cold wave sweeps parts of country; Mercury dips to 9°C at Saidpur
Temperatures at 9°C first time this winter
A cold wave is sweeping parts of Bangladesh with the lowest temperature 9.0°C recorded at Saidpur in Nilphamari on Tuesday (2 January) morning, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
This is the lowest minimum temperature of the current winter season so far. The lowest temperature in the country was 11.6°C in Tentulia of Panchagarh on Monday.
Moderate to thick fog may occur from midnight to morning over the country and may continue for the next several days.
Air navigation, inland river transport and road communications may be disrupted due to thick fog, warns the Met Office.
Due to thick fog, cold weather may prevail at places over the country, its officials said.
Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies over the country today. Night temperature may remain unchanged and day temperature may rise slightly over the country today.
But both night and day temperatures may rise slightly over the country tomorrow.
