Ex-minister Inu sent to jail in student killing case
Hasanul Haque Inu was arrested from a house in the capital's Uttara area on 26 August
A court here today (12 December) sent former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu to jail in a case lodged over the killing of a college student Khalid Hasan Saifullah in the capital's Azimpur area during the anti-discrimination students' movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order as police produced Inu before the court after the end of his four-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars.
Hasanul Haque Inu was arrested from a house in the capital's Uttara area on 26 August.
Khalid Hasan Saifullah was shot and killed on 18 July in Azimpur Government Residential Area as he was taking part in the anti-discrimination students rally.
His father filed the case on 19 August with Lalbagh police station against 52 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
