Ex-MP Jakob sent to jail in murder case
Abdullah Al Islam Jakob was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on 1 October
A court here today sent former lawmaker of Bhola-4 Abdullah Al Islam Jakob to jail in a case lodged over the murder of one Shamim Hawlader in the capital's Rupnagar area during the July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Md Zunaid passed the order as police produced the former lawmaker before the court after end of his three-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind the bars.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Ahammed on 20 November placed Jakob on a three-day remand in the case.
Abdullah Al Islam Jakob was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on 1 October.
Shamim Hawlader got shot on 20 July in the Probeshika intersection area under Rupnagar Police Station in the capital. He died from his injuries in the hospital. Shamim's cousin Samrat later filed the case in this connection.
