Rajshahi police have identified the car used to abduct a female physician from her residence in Chandrima residential area of the city yesterday (30 December).
But nothing is known about where she currently is.
The victim has been identified as Shakira, a graduate of the Dental Department at Islami Bank Medical College in Rajshahi.
Speaking to The Business Standard, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sabina Yeasmin, said the vehicle used in the abduction has been identified.
"After identifying the vehicle used in the abduction, the vehicle's number has been sent to all police stations. If the vehicle is found, it will be possible to uncover a lot of information.
"All efforts are being made to rescue the abducted doctor," she added.
The ADC said, "Moreover, the Motihar Police Station deputy commissioner has spoken to the victim's family members. The police are working very seriously on the matter to determine if the abduction was due to any previous rivalry or any other reason."
According to police sources, yesterday morning, the abductors broke into the doctor's house in the Chandrima residential area and forcibly took away the doctor and her father.
Later, the abductors dropped her father near the Salanga area of Sirajganj.
Her father, Abu Taher Khurshid Bokul, is a retired official of the Bangladesh Water Development Board.
During this incident, her mother Rehena Parveen, 51, was severely injured.
She is currently undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Later that night, the doctor's father filed a case with Chandrima Police Station in the city.
Contacted, the station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Matiar Rahman said the plaintiff has identified the abductors.
A case has been filed against one person and two to three unknown individuals.
Victim's mother Rehena told TBS that two abductors entered their room.
When they released her, she ran downstairs and fell on the road. By then, the abductors had taken her daughter and husband away.
"My husband said they were taken away in a microbus. There were six abductors including the driver."
