Former planning minister MA Mannan was discharged from hospital today (10 October), the day after he was granted bail from the court.
He left the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 1:40pm.
A Sunamganj court yesterday granted bail to the former planning minister in a case filed over an attack on protesters during the recent student-led mass uprising.
Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Hemayet Uddin had passed the order this afternoon, said Mannan's lawyer Nazrul Islam.
The court granted bail considering Mannan's illness and age, he added.
Deputy Director of the Sylhet hospital Soumitra Chakraborty said a medical board had been constituted for Mannan's treatment.
He was suffering from high blood pressure and heart disease apart from diabetes.
As his health stabilised, he was discharged, Chakraborty added.
Mannan was arrested from his village home on 19 September and hospitalised on 5 October after falling seriously ill.
