Four DU students ‘beaten’ up by Chhatra League men
They beat up the four students with sticks and iron rods, leaving them with injuries in different parts of their bodies
Four students of Dhaka University were beaten up by Chhatra League men for their alleged affiliation with Islami Chhatra Shibir last night.
The students are Sanwar Hossain of Political Science Department, Minhaj Uddin of Tourism and Hospitality Management Department, Abdul Mukim of Islamic History and Culture Department and Afsar Uddin of Arabic Department.
They all stay in Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.

Sources said Anwar Hossain, former vice-president of the Chhatra League's hall unit, and Amir Hamza, former joint secretary, first called Abdul Mukim at the guestroom and put a blame on him that he has a connection with the politics of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir. But he denied the allegation.
The Chhatra League leaders also took Minhaj Uddin, Sanwar Hossain and Afsar Uddin to the guestroom, suspecting them to be Shibir activists. They beat up the four students with sticks and iron rods, leaving them with injuries in different parts of their bodies.
Later, the Chhatra League leaders handed them over to the Shahbag Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge of Shahbag Police Station Abul Hasan told The Business Standard that they released the students this afternoon on a promise that they would not do the politics of Islami Chhatra Shibir anymore.
The Chhatra League leaders – Anwar Hossain and Amir Hamza – could not be contacted over the phone for comments.
Vice-President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union Nurul Haque Nur told The Business Standard that he went to Shahbag Police Station and requested police to release the students.
"Chhatra League leaders have no right to beat a student who has a different political belief," he added.
