Four more detained over attack on journalist during Dhaka city polls
The detainees are Alauddin, 26, Masud Mia, 20, Rasel Hossain, 35 and Apu Mia 24
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four men in connection with the attack on journalist Mostafizur Rahman Sumon during Dhaka city polls on February 1.
The detainees are Alauddin, 26, Masud Mia, 20, Rasel Hossain, 35 and Apu Mia 24.
They were arrested from different parts of the capital today, RAB-2 Media Wing Director Sarwar Bin Kashem confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
According to RAB sources, there have been several drives in the last three days to detain them. Besides, 11 others have been identified after viewing video footage, photographs and witness narratives.
On Wednesday night, police detained another man named Ismail Hossain from Rayerbazar intellectual graveyard area. On Thursday, he was put on one-day remand over a case filed by the assaulted reporter.
Mostafizur Rahman Sumon is a crime reporter of online news portal Agami News.
On polls day, a group of supporters of an Awami League-nominated councillor candidate reportedly attacked Sumon in Mohammadpur, leaving him seriously injured.
He was first rushed to the Sikder Medical College Hospital and later transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he received six stitches.
