Four new commuter trains start operation on Dhaka-Joydebpur route
The inauguration of two pairs of commuter trains on Gazipur-Dhaka route was disclosed through a notice signed by Director of Public Relations of Bangladesh Railway Md Nahid Hasan on Thursday (12 December)
Four new commuter trains started operating on the Dhaka-Joydebpur route from today (15 December), in response to high passenger demand.
Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan inaugurated the trains at Joydebpur Junction Railway Station today (15 December).
Officials of Bangladesh Railway and Gazipur district administration were present during the inauguration, which involved the hoisting of a green flag and the blowing of a whistle.
Commuting a short distance on one of the new trains, the adviser and his entourage disembarked at Dhirashram Railway Station, the stop before Joydebpur.
During the inauguration, Adviser Fouzul said, "The new trains have been inaugurated on the eve of Victory Day so that residents of Gazipur can attend office by commuting from their houses with ease. We have accommodated travelling for all types of passengers. Commuters will be able to travel from Gazipur to Dhaka within a short time. We will also start commuter trains on the Narsingdi-Dhaka and Narayanganj-Dhaka routes next."

According to the notice, the Turag commuter train will leave Dhaka at 5am and reach Joydebpur at 6am, with brief stops at Airport and Tongi railway stations.
The Turag commuter train will leave Joydebpur at 6:30am and reach Dhaka at 7:40am, with brief stops at Dhirashram, Tongi, Airport, Banani and Tejgaon railway stations.
The Joydebpur commuter train will leave Dhaka at 5:25am and reach Joydebpur railway station at 6:25am, with brief stoppage at Tejgaon, Airport and Tongi railway stations.
The Joydebpur commuter train will leave Joydebpur at 7:10am and reach Dhaka at 8:25am, with brief stoppage at Tongi, Airport, Banani and Tejgaon railway stations.
The same train will again leave Dhaka at 11am and reach Joydebpur at 12pm, leaving Joydebpur at 12:30pm and reaching Dhaka at 1:40pm with brief stops at Tongi, Airport, Banani and Tejgaon railway stations.
Meanwhile, the Turag commuter train will leave Joydebpur at 5:20pm and reach Dhaka at 6:40pm, leaving Dhaka at 9:45pm and reaching Joydebpur at 11:15pm, the notice reads.
The weekly holiday for the Turag commuter train will be Friday, while for Joydebpur commuter train it will be Saturday. Tickets for these trains can be issued from select railway stations only.
Commuters on this route expressed their satisfaction and joy, saying these new trains will lessen their travel time to a great extent.
