Garment workers protest over dues in Malibagh
A protesting worker claimed that they had not been receiving their wages for the last five months
More than a hundred workers of a garment have been protesting by blocking road demanding payment of their due salaries on DIT road in the capital's Malibagh area.
The workers of Dragon Sweater factory started protest demonstration from 10am today. The blockade created a long tailback of vehicles in the area.
A protesting worker claimed that they had not been receiving their wages for the last five months.
"We have been forced to take to the streets as the factory owner did to pay our salaries and allowances. In addition, the owner refused to pay the salaries," claimed another worker named Uzzal.
"Police are trying to resolve the issue by talking with both parties, workers and owners," Officer-in-Charge of Rampura Police Station Kuddus Fakir said.
