Giant whale shark caught in Chattogram

A fisherman caught a giant whale shark with a fishing net in the Bay of Bengal on Thursday morning.
Later, the fish was taken to the Bangla Bazar Fishery Ghat in Chambal union on Thursday night.
"A fisherman named Redwan caught the fish. It was later transported to Sadarghat area of Chattogram," Chambal union Chairman Mujibul Huq told The Business Standard.
Mahbubur Rahman, senior fisheries officer of Banshkhali upazila, said, "The fish is also known as tiger shark. It weighed around 800kg."
He also said, this type of shark is rare in this region.
Meanwhile, enthusiastic people thronged to the Fishery Ghat to have a glimpse of the giant shark.
