Govt cracking down BNP men in lockdown: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP leaders and activists are being arrested over the false case, said Fakhrul.
The BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that government's cracking down on BNP leaders and activists going on during nationwide lockdown.
BNP leaders and activists are being arrested over the false case, said Fakhrul.
He said, "Police have arrested about 200 leaders and activists from different parts of the country on false charges involving the BNP in Hefazat-e-Islam's peaceful protest programme over the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
He further said, "Due to lack of public support, the government is committing the heinous act of arrest and torture even during the holy month of Ramadan. The government has started torturing the opposition leaders and activists in the lockdown."
In a news briefing on Thursday, Mirza Fakhrul also gave updates on BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's health. He said, "Begum Khaleda Zia is still well, with no symptoms."
Begum Khaleda Zia was tested positive for the novel coronavirus on 11 April. She is undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of the medical board.
