Government alone not responsible for corruption in health sector: new DG of health
The newly-appointed director-general will take charge of the health department on Sunday
The government is not solely responsible for corruption in the health sector. Everyone should be honest otherwise there is no way to prevent corruption.
Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, the new director-general of the directorate general of health services, said this after paying homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhanmondi on Saturday morning.
"We all are responsible for corruption. If we just point the finger at the government, that would be the biggest foolishness. We are all part of this corruption," he said.
"There is a big challenge ahead. I will try to overcome the problems we are facing in this pandemic," he added.
He called on journalists to be with the government and have a "positive attitude" during the Covid-19 epidemic. He said, "Journalists must criticise the government and point out mistakes. Further, if we do something good, you must present it too."
The newly-appointed director-general will take charge of the health department on Sunday.
Earlier, he was the chairman of the surgery department of Dhaka Medical College.
Professor Khurshid Alam wants the blessings of all so that he can fulfil his responsibilities.
