HC directs govt to monitor private hospitals’ dengue test fees
The court said private hospitals cannot impose any extra charge in addition to Tk500 fixed by the government for dengue test
The High Court on Monday directed the government to monitor if private hospitals charge people higher fees for tests for dengue.
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader asked the director-general of the Directorate General of Health Services to submit a report in this regard on August 1.
The court will issue further order on the matter on the same day.

The court said private hospitals cannot impose any extra charge in addition to Tk500 fixed by the government for dengue test.
It also said government hospitals cannot take any fees from dengue patients.
Earlier on July 25, the same bench asked the Department of Health to take steps to fix charges of medical tests for dengue and chikungunya at private hospitals.
Patients should not be harassed in the name of extra fees, said the HC bench in their suo moto order following a report published in the media.
