HC issues ruling against Square Hospitals
The court also ordered the hospital to submit medical report and the video of the surgery within 30 days.
The High Court (HC) has issued a ruling against Square Hospitals asking to explain why they should not be fined Tk5 crore for a brain surgery that left a patient paralyzed.
An HC bench comprising justices JBM Hasan and Khairul Alam issued the ruling on Thursday.
The court also ordered the hospital to submit medical report and the video of the surgery within 30 days.
The patient is Mehedi Hasan Shamim, a former student of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka.
In April, Mehedi underwent a brain surgery by Square Hospitals Neurosurgery Consultant Prof. Dr. Krishna Prabhu where two of his nerves were cut, that caused paralysis in the left side of his body.
Earlier on July 14, the patient’s lawyer filed a writ with the HC.
