Health Services Division secretary hospitalised with Covid-19
Earlier in June, Abdul Manna and his wife Kamrun Nahar tested positive for the novel coronavirus
Health Services Division Secretary Md Abdul Mannan has been admitted to Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute & Hospital of the capital, after being diagnosed with Covid-19.
Dr Golam Kibria, deputy director of the hospital, confirmed the information, saying he was taken to the hospital around 12pm today.
"Health Services Division secretary has been admitted here at noon. He is now doing well," he said, adding that the ministry officials will disclose detailed information in this regard.
Earlier in June, Abdul Mannan and his wife Kamrun Nahar tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
His wife died of Covid-19 while being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on 14 June.
The secretary had received coronavirus vaccine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on 28 January.
Bangladesh witnessed an alarming hike in coronavirus cases and deaths in the recent days.
On Friday, the country yet again saw the biggest daily surge in Covid cases with 6,830 new single day infections reported till 8am.
With an alarming 23.28% infection rate, the tally has so far reached 6,24,594 in the country.
The country also saw 50 new fatalities, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
