Breast Cancer Awareness Day observed
The Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum has said it will provide technical assistance to organisations that raise awareness about the subject
Eight Bangladeshi non-governmental organisations observed Breast Cancer Awareness Day for the eighth year in a row, on Saturday. The focus of this year's campaign is "Obesity increases the risk of breast cancer."
Internationally, October has been labelled Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During this pandemic, the Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum and Rotary International District 3281, Bangladesh have arranged a campaign to raise awareness among people regarding the issue, read a press release.
When breast cancer is detected early, and if adequate diagnosis and treatment are available, there is a good chance that breast cancer can be cured.
The campaign included leaflet distribution containing primary information on breast cancer and reusable pink masks, from 11am to 2pm.
Patients and their families who came to the National Cancer Institute and Hospital's outdoor section around 9am were also given leaflets and masks.
The Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum has also declared that it will continue the campaign throughout the month and provide technical help to any organisation to arrange awareness programmes regarding breast cancer.
The press release also mentioned that a virtual seminar on this subject will be held at 7pm.
