Ibrahim Cardiac CCU closed; 11 Mitford Hospital staff test Covid-19 positive
After verifying the X-ray reports, the doctors suspected about the infection but the patient’s relatives denied the matter
Hiding the information of being Covid-19 positive, a patient was admitted to the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital & Research Institute on April 14. The relatives of the patients told the authorities that he was suffering from a heart disease.

However, at around 10 pm, they admitted that the patient was coronavirus positive.

Amid the situation, a Coronary Care Unit (CCU) has been closed at the hospital, and the doctors and nurses, who primarily treated the patient, have been quarantined.
Saqlain Rasel, a doctor of the hospital, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"There are two CCUs in the fourth and fifth floor of the hospital. The patient was in the fourth floor's CCU, which is closed now," he said.
Later, the patient was referred to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital but he died on the way to that hospital, added Saqlain.
The closed CCU will undergo a thorough sterilisation and might be opened in a couple of days, the doctor said.
Meanwhile, the doctors, nurses and other health service providers of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19 as the relatives of a patient falsified information about his being infected with coronavirus.
A patient arrived on Saturday in a critical state and needed immediate surgery. The doctors decided to perform the surgery the same day, said Brigadier General Kazi Md Rashid-un-Nabi, director of the hospital.
The relatives of the patients said they had arrived from Madaripur. But once the patient came into sense after the surgery, he said he was from Narayanganj.
Later, the patient was tested for Covid-19 as Narayanganj has been declared as the epicentre of this infectious disease.
On the following day, the test result was positive for the patient.
Immediately, the emergency operation theatre and post-operative ward were locked down. And the doctors and nurses who served the patient went to home quarantine.
After testing, four doctors, four nurses and three ward boys were found covid-19 positive.
