Medical technologists withdraw hunger strike after new DGHS chief promises appointment
Medical technologists on Sunday withdrew their hunger strike after the new chief of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) assured them of appointment.
Within hours of taking charge, DG ABM Khurshid Alam rushed to the National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Center and talked with the protesting medical technologists.
He assured them that he would look into the matter of their appointment.
Later, the agitated protestors withdrew the strike and the health services chief provided them with juice to break their fasts.
Earlier on Friday more than 50 volunteering medical technologists sat in a hunger srike demanding official government employment in front of the National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Center at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka.
