Hearing on Niko graft case charge framing deferred to Aug 27
A Dhaka court has set August 27 for the hearing on charge framing in the Niko graft case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-9 deferred the date of hearing as Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Khaleda's lawyers Md Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Syed Jaynul Abedin Mejbah and Hannan Bhuiyan had filed an application to defer the hearing date which the court accepted.
On December 9, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission had filed the case, accusing the former prime minister and 10 others of misusing power to grant a gas deal to Canadian company Niko.
