Heat wave may continue for next one week in Dhaka
No low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal yet
The ongoing mild heat wave sweeping over Dhaka and some parts of the country may continue for next one week, said AKM Nazmul Haque, a meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
He also said areas in Faridpur, Madaripur, Kushtia and Jessore are likely to be hit by the Kalbaishakhi in the next one or two days.
"Maximum temperature in Dhaka may fluctuate between 36°C to 38°C. The capital's maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C yesterday," said AKM Nazmul Haque.
The highest temperature was recorded at 37°C in Ishwardi and Jessore yesterday. Today's minimum temperature in the country is 21°C in Tetulia.

Earlier, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune and US-Based Global Forecast System (GFS) forecasted a low-pressure area may form over Andaman sea and its adjacent area in May and that may develop into a depression, and probably to a cyclonic storm later, bypassing India's Odisha.
According to the forecast, the system will move away from the Indian coast and head towards the border of Myanmar and Bangladesh.
While asked if the heatwave is linked to that forecast, the meteorologist said, "No it's not."
"No low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal yet," he added.
