Hefazat staging protest rally in Paltan

Activists of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh have brought out a protest rally in Paltan area.
They brought out the rally around 11:20am from in front of the capital's Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to protest as they enforced daylong hartal.
Earlier, Protesters gathered at the North gate of the mosque wielding sticks and could be seen chanting slogans in support of the hartal protesting over the deaths of its activists in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria in police action, and Bangladesh visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
So far, the situation has not escalated even though police are not stationed near the mosque. However, Law enforcement agencies could be seen near the capital's Paltan area.
Protesters have blocked both roads leading from and to the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
At least four people were killed, and dozens injured, when several hundred Hefazat-e-Islam activists clashed with cops in Chattogram's Hathazari on Saturday.
Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Junaid Babunagari vowed to avenge the deaths of its activists. He said the incident of police firing on a peaceful movement can never be accepted.
Besides, a youth was killed, and 14 others were injured, as students of different madrasas in Brahmanbaria clashed with police.
The government yesterday deployed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members in Dhaka and other parts of the country to control law and order.
