VP Nur: A victim of repeated attacks of Chhatra League
After all these attacks, VP Nur vowed to raise voice against the “lawlessness and irregularities”, saying, “No one can stop me from protesting the irregularities"
Nurul Haque Nur, the vice president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), have been attacked multiple times allegedly by leaders and activists of ruling Awami League's student organisation Chhatra League since June 2018.
Nur came to prominence in 2018 as a joint-convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakshan Parishad, which led the Quota Reform Movement across the country.
On 30 June 2018, Nur was beaten in front of the Dhaka University Central Library.
On March 11 in 2019, Nur, vice presidential candidate of the Ducsu polls and also the quota reform panel leader was reportedly attacked at the university's Rokeya Hall.
He was elected as the Vice-President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) on the same day.
The following day, on March 12, VP Nur was assaulted again allegedly by some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
On April 02, the newly elected VP was allegedly confined to Salimullah Muslim Hall and again assaulted by leaders and activists of hall unit Bangladesh Chhatra League.
On May 26, Nur was assaulted in Bogura allegedly by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
On August 14, VP Nur and his associates were reportedly attacked by some unknown miscreants in Patuakhali.
"I was attacked by goons at Ulania Bazar on the way to my sister's house in Dashmina," Nur said then.
On December 17, VP Nur and eight others came under an attack allegedly carried out by the Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders in Dhaka University's TSC area.
On December 22, a section of Muktijuddha Mancha activists allegedly carried out an attack on VP Nurul Haque Nur and his followers.
Apart from these attacks, VP Nur was also attacked two or three times inside the university campus on different times.
After all these attacks, VP Nur vowed to raise voice against the "lawlessness and irregularities", saying, "No one can stop me from protesting the irregularities."
Demanding that punishment of the attackers, the Ducsu VP expressed the hope that law enforcers will find out the attackers and take necessary actions soon.
