Hundreds join Tajia procession in capital
DMP has imposed a ban on carrying all sorts of lethal weapons
A large number of Shia Muslims brought out a Tajia procession in the capital this morning marking the day of Holy Ashura.
The procession started from Old Dhaka's Hussaini Dalan at 10:15am and will end at Dhanmondi Lake.
People in black and white attires joined the procession. They were carrying flags and chanting the slogan "Hay Hussain, Hay Hussain".
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on carrying all sorts of lethal weapons, such as knife, sword and other sharp weapons, during the procession.
Besides, adequate security measures were taken around Imambara Hussaini Dalan up to Dhanmondi Lake to ensure a smooth observance of Holy Ashura.
Law enforcers and firefighters also took position in different parts of the capital.
Holy Ashura, observed on the 10th of Muharram in the Hijri year, commemorates Hazrat Imam, grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
