Info of 5 lakh citizens added: DMP chief
The DMP chief made the disclosure while addressing a seminar titled “Social awareness programmes to counter extremism” at a city hotel on Monday
The weeklong citizen information collection drive, carried out by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has added information of another 5 lakh residents.
“In total, we have so far compiled data of around 70 lakh citizens in the Citizen Information Management System (CIMS),” said DMP chief Asaduzzaman Miah.
The DMP chief made the disclosure while addressing a seminar titled “Social awareness programmes to counter extremism” at a city hotel on Monday.
He further said it would help the DMP prevent extremism.
The DMP commissioner claimed that at present there are no criminal activities in the capital.
He called upon the public representatives to work with law enforcers to wipe out extremism.
The DMP commissioner also requested the city dwellers to install CCTV cameras in their houses, shops and other establishments.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam attended the discussion as chief guest while DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Chief Monirul Islam presided over it.
