Jubo League leader snatched from police vehicle in Gazipur
The incident occurred in the Member Bari area of Bhawalgarh union under Gazipur Sadar Upazila, said Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Joydebpur Police Station
A local leader of the Jubo League in Gazipur was snatched from police custody by a Jubo Dal leader and his associates yesterday (30 November).
The incident occurred in the Member Bari area of Bhawalgarh union under Gazipur Sadar Upazila, said Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Joydebpur Police Station.
He said the Jubo League leader, identified as Raju, is the vice president of Gazipur Sadar Upazila Jubo League, and his alleged snatcher, Mamun Shikdar, serves as the general secretary of Ward 4 Jubo Dal in the same union.
"Based on specific allegations, a police team detained Raju for questioning. On the way to the station, Jubo Dal leader Mamun Shikdar and others forcefully removed the accused from the police vehicle," Abdul Halim said.
Following the incident, Bhawalgarh Union Jubo Dal issued a show-cause notice to Mamun Shikdar for alleged misconduct and violation of organisational rules.
The notice, signed by Bhawalgarh Union Jubo Dal convener Shariful Islam Sharif, sought a written explanation by 3 December.
"Allegations have surfaced that Mamun violated the organisation's constitution. Hence, he has been issued a show-cause notice. If his explanation is unsatisfactory, necessary organisational actions will be taken," said Shariful Islam Sharif, convener of Bhawalgarh Union Jubo Dal.
OC Abdul Halim said the matter has been reported to senior police officials. Legal action is underway.
