Jute fiber's quality to be improved to boost jute usage: Agri secy
The secretary directed the officials concerned to work properly for the expansion of multipurpose jute products
The use of jute will be increased by improving the quality of jute fibre and producing multipurpose jute products, Ministry of Agriculture Secretary Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian has said.
"For this purpose, the related research activities need to be increased," he said while addressing an annual agricultural research review workshop at the conference room of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI)'s head office at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Thursday (17 October) as the chief guest, an official release said today (18 October).
The secretary directed the officials concerned to work properly for the expansion of multipurpose jute products.
He also urged them to prepare a roadmap for jute research activities for the next 20 years.
With Director General of BJRI Dr Nargis Akter in the chair, the workshop was attended, among others, by Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Md Ruhul Amin Khan, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Afsari Khanam and Executive Director of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council Dr Nazmun Nahar Karim.
