KS relief starts distributing 80,000 aid packages
The distribution of the aid packages has already begun in Chattogram since Saturday
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) of Saudi Arabia has started distributing 80,000 aid packages across Bangladesh in collaboration with Al Manahil Welfare Foundation.
The distribution of the aid packages, namely 'food baskets,' has already begun in Chattogram. At least 7000 food baskets will be distributed to marginalised populations in the district, said Abul Kalam Azad, chief coordinator of Al Manahil Welfare Foundation.
Also, 35,000 food baskets- each containing rice, pulses, sugar, cooking oil and salt- have been allocated to be distributed among Rohingya refugees.
Speaking at a programme on Sunday, Azad said that in collaboration with Chattogram Metropolitan Police, 500 food baskets were distributed at the International Convention Center and 500 packets at Rima Community Center on Saturday.
Moreover, 500 more food baskets were distributed at the Royal Garden Community Center in collaboration with Chattogram City Corporation on Sunday, he continued.
Azad added that the distribution programme will continue even after Eid. Of the 80,000 packets across the country, 35,000 packets will be distributed in Rohingya camps.
He made the remarks during a programme at the office of Divisional Sports Organisation at MA Aziz Stadium, where food baskets were distributed among journalists in the presence of two KSrelief delegates.
Chittagong Press Club President Ali Abbas, Chattogram Divisional Sports Association's General Secretary, Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir, and Joint General Secretary Aminul Islam, Al Manahil Welfare Foundation's Chairman Helal Uddin bin Jamir Uddin, and CEO Mohammad Farid Uddin, were present on the occasion among others.
