Laws must be implemented freely: Commerce minister
The minister said the entrepreneurs will be more interested in investing or taking risk if the laws are implemented freely
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said a law must be implemented freely and there is no point in passing a law that does not benefit anyone.
He made the statement in a webinar entitled "Benefits of Amendment of the Companies Act 1994," organised by Snehasish Mahmud and Co on Sunday.
Tipu Munshi said, "There are many opinions for and against the benefits of the amendment to the Companies Act 1994. We must carefully consider if our businesses are harmed as a result of it. The government is trying to assist companies in every way possible."

He also said entrepreneurs will be more interested in investing or taking risk if laws are implemented freely.
Abul Kasem Khan, former president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and chairperson of Business Initiative Leading Development, also spoke at the event.
Commenting on amending the law, he said, "Now many entities have been digitised. We are making progress in businesses day by day. We have to make an overall progress too. So, we have to create environment favorable to businesses. This will make this sector more successful."
Nuria Lopez, president of Spain Bangladesh Chamber of commerce, said "Bangladesh is my second home. I have received many assistance from this country. Bangladeshi laws are very friendly to businesses, but some things should be made easier because we have to keep pace with the world. The authorities concerned should supervise these things."
Shams Mahmud, president of DCCI, presided over the webinar that was hosted by Sukanta Bhattacharya.
Zarin Mahmud Hossain presented the keynote paper at the programme moderated by Snehasish Barua.
