At least 10 hurt in Noakhali AL factional clash

At least 10 leaders and activists were injured in a clash between two factions of the ruling Awami in Noakhali's Companiganj Upazila on Monday.
The clash took place at Rupali Chattar of Basurhat pourashava around 5 pm.
The injured were Upazila Awami League president Freedom Fighter Khizir Hayet Khan, Fakrul Islam Rahat, Salekin Rimon, a local union Parishad Chairman Nazrul Islam Chowdhury Shahin, Upazila Chhatra Leauge president Nizam Uddin Munna, general secretary Sah Farhad Linkon, Zahedul Haque Kochi.

Eyewitness said,Upazila AL president Khizir Hayet Khan along with some local leaders and activists came to Rapali chattar to inaugurate a new office of AL, while Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza also went to the same place with a procession of hundreds of supporters. An altercation took place between the supporters of two factions at that time.
At one point, there were chases and counter-chases, clashes and shootings between the supporters on both sides and left several injured.
Confirming the matter Companiganj Police station acting officer in charge (OC) Mir Zahedul Haque Rony said the situation is now under control.
