Man killed in gunfight with BGB at Mymensingh
A man has been killed in an alleged gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Haluaghat border area of Mymensingh on early Tuesday.
BGB claimed the man to be a member of a smuggling gang. He was yet to be identified.
BGB Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Fayzur Rahman told The Business Standard that the incident took place at Haluaghat in Mymensingh at late of night.
The shoot-out took place when members of the smuggling gang were trying to enter in Bangladesh from India. Despite repeated warning, they carried out an attack on BGB members, forcing them to fire back in self-defense, he added.
The BGB director further said, "We heard that a man died. Now Police is on the job to identify his nationality."
The incident happened just few days after a Director General Level Talks between BGB and BSF at Guwahati of Assam from 22 to 25 December.
