Month-long flower festival set to kick off 4 Jan in Chattogram
The festival will showcase a distinct floating flower garden and a traditional rural fair
The 3rd Chattogram Flower Festival is set to kick off on Saturday (4 January) at DC Park in Fouzdarhat area.
This month-long event will feature over 1 lakh plants from 136 flower species, sourced both locally and globally.
Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram, Farida Khanam, shared the event details during a press briefing at DC Park this afternoon (2 January).
"We have planned this year's flower festival in a unique way," said Farida Khanam.
She further said, "Every day, there will be colorful cultural events showcasing the traditions of Bangladesh within the park premises. The festival will conclude with a mega concert on 4 February."
The DC said the festival will showcase a distinct floating flower garden and a traditional rural fair. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase flowers to take home this year.
In addition to enjoying the vibrant array of flowers, visitors can partake in a variety of cultural activities.
This year's attractions include violin performances, movie screenings, traditional doll dance shows, a kite festival, a book fair, a pitha festival, and a multicultural festival.
Visitors will need to pay an entry fee of Tk50, up from Tk30 charged last year.
Tickets can be purchased both onsite and online for the visitors' convenience.
For easier access, tourist bus and shuttle bus services will operate from the city's Tiger Pass for visitors traveling from the city center.
DC Park, developed in 2023 on a 194-acre piece of government-owned (khash) land previously reclaimed from encroachers, has become a thriving recreational area. The park was once a hub for illegal activities, but since its transformation, it has hosted two successful Flower Festivals, starting in February 2023.
The park features more than just gardens; it boasts two large lakes where visitors can enjoy boating and kayaking. Additionally, there is a dedicated children's zone, making the park a family-friendly destination.
