Most adolescents experience torture at home, school: report
The research shows 82 percent students have gone through corporal punishment at school
Being an adolescent in Bangladesh is hard as they experience physical violence both at home and school, according to a research.
As many as 90 percent of younger adolescents and 82 percent older adolescents experience physical violence at home while 82 percent have gone through corporal punishment at school, the research by the Gender and Adolescent: Global Evidence (GAGE) Bangladesh finds.
The GAGE Bangladesh conducted the research on adolescents from different slums in Mirpur, Mohammadpur and Tongi.
According to the research, 62 percent female caregivers and 29 percent male caregivers report torturing their children physically.
The findings of the research were presented by GAGE Bangladesh in a seminar at BRAC Center Inn in Dhaka on Sunday.
