Bikers attack cop asking for papers
The injured police sergeant Bipul Bhattacharya, 32, was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), said Mohammad Golam Ruhul Kuddus, additional deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
A police sergeant was injured as two motorcyclists attacked him during a stop and check in Rajshahi's Ghora Chattar area on Tuesday noon.
The injured police sergeant Bipul Bhattacharya, 32, was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), said Mohammad Golam Ruhul Kuddus, additional deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
He said Bipul Bhattacharya was checking legal documents after setting a check post in the city bypass area when the two youth motorcyclists arrived there around 2:30 pm.
The motorcyclists locked into an altercation with the sergeant as he asked for a driving license. At one stage, they started beating him mercilessly, leaving him critically injured.
Now the sergeant is undergoing treatment at no. 4 wards of RMCH. One of his hands was broken and injury spots were found in different parts of his body, he noted.
Police seized the motorcycle but the youths managed to flee the scene. Drive to arrest the motorcyclists was underway, the official added.
