Massive sand sculpture of Bangabandhu unveiled in Cox’s Bazar
The speech-mode sculpture of Bangabandhu with his raised index finger has been created at Laboni point of the beach
Protesting against the recent attack on the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia, a gigantic sand sculpture of the Father of the Nation was unveiled at Cox's Bazar sea beach on Wednesday.
The speech-mode sculpture of Bangabandhu with his raised index finger has been created at Laboni point of the beach, thanks to an initiative by the district administration in collaboration with Branding Cox's Bazar.
"Ebarer sangram swadhinotar sangram" has been written at the top of the sculpture while "sagorer cheye bishal tumi" at the bottom.

Md Kamal Hossain, deputy commissioner of Cox's Bazar, presided over the inaugural ceremony, while Saimum Sarwar Kamal, legislator from the local constituency; Md Hasanuzzaman, superintendent of police; Advocate Faridul Islam Chowdhury, president of Awami League's Cox's Bazar district unit; Mujibur Rahman, general secretary of the AL's district unit, and other senior officials of the local administration were also present there.
Addressing the programme, speakers said by creating the sculpture, the people of Cox's Bazar want to send a clear message to all that the Father of the Nation will exist as long as the world exists.
The audacity of a fundamentalist group to remove the sculpture of the Father of the Nation will never succeed. He will be in the heart of the people forever, they added.
However, a festive environment was created there centering unveiling of the sculpture on the beach since morning. People from all walks of life, in addition to tourists, started to flock at the beach to pay tribute to the great leader on the 50th Victory Day.
