No dialogue with BNP on their 'unrealistic' demand for non-partisan government: Law minister
Law Minister Anisul Huq has said the government will not engage with the BNP in any dialogue regarding their 'unrealistic' demands for restoration of caretaker government and the dissolution of the parliament.
"Election is the only way to go. The prime minister also made it clear that there will be no dialogue and this is the final decision," he said while responding to a question from reporters after inaugurating a training workshop for judges at the Judicial Training Institute in the capital on Sunday (9 July).
The law minister's remarks come at a time when the European Union (EU)'s six-member Election Exploratory Mission arrived in Dhaka to survey the atmosphere surrounding the upcoming national election.
Besides the law minister, previously, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Awami League Joint General Secretary Hasan Mahmud, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen as well as Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman, in separate events, spoke against holding dialogue with the BNP over the issue of caretaker government.
During today's event, turning down the need for political dialogues, the law minister said the government would not entertain any dialogue with the BNP regarding the upcoming elections.
Addressing the reporters during today's press briefing, Anisul Huq said, "Let me be clear. Their [BNP] demand is unrealistic, hence, there will be no dialogue."
