21 admitted in 24 hours; 92 undergoing treatment
The number of patients receiving treatment for dengue fever at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) is on the rise.
Twenty-one new patients have been admitted to the hospital in 24 hours ending at 11 am on Saturday.
With this, the total number of dengue patients currently undergoing treatment at the RMCH stands at ninety-two; 76 men, 11 women and 5 children.
Associate Professor Dr Shahiduzzaman, spokesperson of the specialist medical team at RMCH, said: “The patients are being provided treatment is at different wards of the hospital.”
“It would have been better, if all the patients infected with dengue could have been treated at a particular ward,” he added.
He also advised everyone to seek immediate medical attention from the nearest hospital or health complex upon experiencing any fever.
As per RMCH sources, 120 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital in the period between July 19 and August 3. However, only 20 of them returned home after being treated there.
