BNP vice chairman Ruhul Alam dies of Covid-19
Ruhul Alam tested positive for Covid-19 after he was admitted to the CMH with mild symptoms on 10 March
BNP vice chairman major general (retd) Ruhul Alam Chowdhury died of Covid-19 on Saturday. He was 73.
The senior BNP leader, who was a member of the advisory council of former caretaker government, breathed his last around 11:15 am today at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Shamsuddin Dider, a member of BNP chairperson's press wing, said that Ruhul Alam will be laid to rest at the Banani military graveyard after Asr prayer.

Ruhul Alam tested positive for Covid-19 after he was admitted to the CMH with mild symptoms on 10 March. Later, he was shifted to the hospital's ICU as his condition deteriorated on 13 March.
He was born on 24 August in 1947 in Pekua upazila of Cox's Bazar district. He joined the Bangladesh Army in 1972 and retired in 1998.
Ruhul Alam was made one of the advisers to the caretaker government, formed by then President Iajuddin Ahmed in 2006. He was made BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser in 2009 and the party vice chairman in 2016.
