Emranul Huq, the managing director and CEO of Dhaka Bank, has passed away.
The veteran banker breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Kolkata, India, early this morning (8 September), a Dhaka Bank official told The Business Standard.
He was 61 years old and suffering from cancer.
Huq passed away at 3:18am. His body is expected to be brought back to Bangladesh later today.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Emranul Huq took on the role of managing director and CEO of Dhaka Bank in February 2020.
Before his tenure at Dhaka Bank, Huq gained experience at Eastern Bank Ltd and Credit Africa Bank Ltd in Zambia, where he served in several positions.
His banking career, spanning over three decades, started in 1986 when he joined the Bank of Credit and Commerce International in Dhaka as a management trainee.
