One killed in Khulna mob beating

A man was killed by mob for attempting to steal fish from a hatchery in Amdabad beel in Khulna on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Azgar Sheikh, 35, son of Mahar Ali of Bagerhat district.
Locals said a gang of thieves had been stealing fish using pesticides at a hatchery in Amdabad beel under Noihati union of Khulna’s Rupsha upazila.
The locals on guard caught Azgar and beat him. He was rushed to Rupsha Upazila Health Complex in a serious condition where he died.
“Three thieves were stealing fish using pesticides in Amdabad beel on Saturday night,” said Tipu Sultan, sub-inspector of Rupsha police station.
“Locals caught Azgar while the two others fled the scene,” he added.
All the fish in the hatchery died from the pesticides, he said.
